XVth IPC/XIth IOPC Prague 2020

Compartimos novedades acerca del International Palynology Congress 2020

Dear IFPC Councillors,
It is my pleasure to inform you that organizing committe of the XVth IPC/XIth IOPC Prague 2020 is working for last two years in an intensive way. All news can be followed on our webpage (see below). We sent this information to the last issue of Palynos. Hard to say how many palynologists read Palynos, so may you send the address of our webpage to your members, please? Thank you very much for you help.

I´d like to ask you about following point, if possible please. I know some routine and practical things concerning IFPS business during every IPC based on my eighteen years long service as Councillor, Vice-President and Secretary-Treasurer in the past.

It is possible that some of IFPS palynological societies ´d like to meet during IPC/IOPC. May you write me which palynological society needs a room for its business meeting, please. And for one or two hours, please? Or will you meet out of the Conference Hotel (pub, restaurant etc)?
We will have to organise the time schedule for all rooms and it´d be really good for us to know all requirements of IFPS (including palynological societies), IOP, Neclime, Aramco and similar organizations some time before. I believe that you understand our situation.

Do not hesitate to contact me with any question, please.

Thank you very much for your kind help
Best wishes

Dr. John Utting

John Utting passed away August 17, 2018 at the age of 78. He is survived by his loving wife Lindsay, four children Sonia (Bill), Oliver (Karen), Daniel (Tracy) and Nicholas (Lieserl), nine grandchildren: Christopher, Henry, Wilbur, Stanley, Benjamin, Timothy, Jonathan, Elizabeth and Darwin and brother Paul. He was predeceased by his parents Bertram and Alice Utting. John was born and raised in Norwich, England. He studied geology at Nottingham University and later completed a Masters at Memorial University. He then returned to England where he completed his Ph.D. in palynology at Sheffield University with field work in the Luangwa Valley, Zambia. His career as a palynologist was not only a job but his passion and that brought him and the family back to Canada first to Quebec City and later Calgary where he worked at the Geological Survey of Canada. John had a lifelong love for music and played the violin in the Calgary Civic Symphony for 30 years. He was an avid beekeeper and loved the outdoors, enjoying hiking and cross country skiing for many years. He was a wonderful husband and father, and will be missed by all those that knew him. A special thank you to the staff at Brentwood Care Centre for their care of John the last two years. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Parkinson’s Association of Alberta (120, 6835 Railway St. SE, Calgary, T2H 2V6). A celebration of life service will be held in late September.
